Leana Lee was born and raised in California. Growing up as an Asian-American, or ABC (American Born Chinese), she learned that many Asian parents push their children towards career paths such as becoming a doctor or lawyer, and definitely not an artist. Contrary to those traditions, Leana's family appreciated art and believed it to be a worthy hobby to participate in. Her Nai Nai (grandma on dad's side) was a gallery artist and a hobby artist, making large oil paintings, wooden animal sculptures, and animal yarn pictures. Her father enjoys Chinese brush painting and drawing. 

Leana believes in dreaming BIG and that means illustrating children's books, ones that her children would love to read over and over. She enjoys drawing colorful whimsical children, and animals using pencils, colored pencils, watercolor, and gouache paints.​

Leana is currently available for board books, picture books, early readers, beginning chapter books, magazine illustrations, and products (cards, toys, games, clothes) for children.
